MPIFF 2021
From 9 to the 11th of September 2021, MPIFF screened eight film premiers and competition films in the Instituto Cervantes de Praga and Kino Světozor. Furthermore, this year was accompanied by two Masterclasses by Prague City University and Prague Film School, as well as a Mariachi workshop and a book presentation translated by Anežka Charvátová: Tempestad de Hurricanes. Finally, MPIFF assured that La Calle Mexicana within the Zažít Americkou Jinak food and drink festival was a place to enjoy culture and gastronomy of Iberoamerica.
What was shown?
The first day of the festival had the opportunity to create retrospective of Yulene Olaizola's work as her new movie: Selva Trágica is now being streamed all over the world on Netflix. MPIFF was "happy" to bring movies from directors like Samuel Kishi and Bruno Santamaría.

What activities happened?
The 3rd edition of the MPIFF was not only film screenings and a competition, in fact many other activities took place:
Masterclass: How to Make a Blockbuster with 32 euros and a Cocktail
Shooting a short or feature film with a small budget and having success is possible nowadays thanks to technology, but this is not enough. We´ll analyze how to make it happen regarding drama, production, and the cocktail.

Masterclass: Ethics in Documentary Cinema
A discussion-based session that will cover some of the major principles of ethics in documentary film, issues, norms, and challenges.

Workshop: Mariachi Workshop
Los Conquistadores(Mex) came to present the traditional Mexican music from the North as well as an introduction to Mariachi music and the accordion.
Presentation: Hurricane Season Book Presentation by Anežka Charvátová
The translator Anežka Charvátová presents Fernanda Melchor's novel: Hurricane Season. Book published by Paseka.
Gastronomy, Music and Culture
La Calle Mexicana, part of the Zažít Americkou Jinak festival in Prague, assured closed down the whole Americká street to ensure the Prague residents enjoy a full day of activities, food stands, beer stands, wine stands, cocktail stands, and artisanal products.
Performances: DJ S-biSH, Cumbia & Quebradita dance workshop, Studio Anyo, Piñata for kids, Guacamole Soundsystem, FlashMob Mexico, El Grito de la Independencia by the Embassy of Mexico in Prague and MPIFF, Los Conquistadores, Mariachi Azteca de Praga, Cumbia Cooperativa and DJ Romario.
